Dark Oswald (previously referred as "Oswald" for short) is an unfinished Oswald suit, and is the secondary antagonist in Five Nights at Treasure Island.
Description[]
Appearance[]
Dark Oswald resembles the Disney Character, except he has the lack of arms, and his textures are black. The reason for this, as explained by Lisa on Night 2, is because the suit was left incomplete before the arms could be applied to it. Dark Oswald seems to resemble his original Disney design, except for the lack of arms. All of his key features are contained: Such as his long ears, a pair of oval eyes, his rabbit tail, and his nose and overalls. His overalls, however, seem to look melted almost, and not as they were in the original cartoons.
Behavior[]
Dark Oswald becomes active starting on Night 2. He starts in the Storage Room, where he can be clearly seen lying on the ground, and will stand before he exits the Storage Room. When he appears in the office, he is seen next to the Treasure Island sign. The player must then shut off a camera to lure him to another room, or hide under the desk or turn off the power to also lure him away, with the second one giving the player 50/50 chance of surviving. Failing or neglecting to do so will make Dark Oswald jumpscare the player.
Dark Oswald has been known to speak in a very deep voice echoing throughout the island. He seems to move or about to move every time he does this, saying things like:
- "Bless your soul..."
- "Don't bless this one...."
- "Have mercy on me please... I only ask for blessing..."
- "God?... God?... God?..."
- "God?... Where are you God?..."
- "God? Please listen to me..."
- "I know you're here, so, please bless me and help me out here."
Locations[]
Dark Oswald starts lying down in the Storage Room before standing up. He will then move to the Staff Area, the Meat Freezer, the Lounge, and lastly the office.
Trivia[]
- Oswald and God are connected in some way.
- Oswald is voiced by the creator of the game, Matthew Phoenix Rodriguez, who also voiced Photo-Negative Mickey.
- Oswald's messed up textures were caused by a modeling error.
- Since Disney lost the rights to Oswald before 1928, there is no logical reason for there to be an Oswald suit here, since Discovery Island was closed long before 2006, when Disney got Oswald's rights back.
- Oswald can rarely become active on Night 1, alongside The Face. This is intended.
- In earlier versions of Abandoned: Discovery Island, he was referred to as Dark Oswald in the extras, and his original name was used for Classic Oswald. However, this led to confusion in the community and many believing that Dark Oswald was the official name, leading to the former's name being reverted and the latter's being changed.
- Due to Oswald being very dark, it is very impossible to spot him on the cameras or in the office during Night 2, as he likes to hide himself in the darkness mostly.
- Oswald is commonly confused with Classic Oswald, the more correct-textured version of Oswald.
- The reason of why Oswald and God are connected to each other in some way, is that most of his quotes actually identify that Oswald is looking for God.
- In phase 3.0 of the official game, Oswald was changed into Classic Oswald as the colors were the correct ones as like the Disney Character, and Photo-Negative Minnie reverted her colors to Impure Mouse (although she kept the eyes and human-like teeth), and Photo-Negative Mickey was replaced by Willy when Purity took over the game.
- Oswald had many voicelines that ended up becoming scrapped later on, but they were heard from the phase 3.0 of the game. The quotes being:
- "Bless your soul..."
- "Bless you..."
- "Where are they?..."
- "She's not happy..."
- "Why did you forget me?"
- "Why was I abandoned?"
- The quote "Where are they?..." means he's trying to find Willy and Impure Mouse.
- The quote "She's not happy..." means Impure Mouse or Purity are not happy.
- The quote "Why did you forget me?" means either God or Jake Smith forget Oswald.
- The quote "Why was I abandoned?" means Oswald is trying to know why he is abandoned.
